Stessa
Transactions redesign
Migrating to a new design system and redefining the existing experience

Prototype demo
Overview
Stessa is a one-stop shop for all things related to property management. Initially a finance management tool, Stessa has now expanded to cover document uploads, auto-imported tax records, lease and tenancy details, and more.
As a Senior Product Designer, I led the redesign and re-platforming of the core Transactions feature within the Stessa app. This project was critical for updating a fundamental financial section that had become outdated, both in functionality and visual design. My goal was to significantly improve usability, modernize the interface, and introduce key features that users had been requesting.
This overhaul involved not just a visual refresh but also a strategic addition of new capabilities to empower users to manage their financial data more effectively. The updated Transactions experience aimed to provide a more robust and intuitive way for users to track, organize, and report on their property-related income and expenses.
Discover
We had an existing Transactions page that was archaic and built from when Stessa first launched. Needless to say, it was outdated in both functionality and code. This meant that the app was missing features and style parity. Upon conducting 10+ user interviews and having an open stream of feedback with our customer support agents, we uncovered pain points and areas for improvement in our existing product.

Problem statement
The current transactions experience prevents real estate investors from easily categorizing and assigning transactions to properties. Built on an outdated and unscalable foundation, the page creates friction, frustrates users, and discourages ongoing engagement.

The constraint was balancing the extensive feature list with timely delivery, ensuring the new experience was both powerful and easy to use for our diverse user base, primarily individual property owners and small-scale landlords.
